PAPA ROACH: Playing For Troops
May 17, 2005Launch Radio Networks reports: PAPA ROACH will join AUDIOSLAVE and other acts in Hawaii on July 1 to perform at an event called Bayfest, which will welcome back troops returning from the Middle East. But PAPA ROACH had another recent opportunity to play for servicemen when they performed at five U.S. bases in South Korea. Drummer Dave Buckner told Launch it was an emotional experience. "We got to meet a lot of soldiers who were, you know, they're like, 'In, you know, two weeks, I'm getting shipped off to the desert, and this is the rock show, you know — I'm glad that you guys came out,'" he said. "'Cause honestly, I mean, some of them were like, 'I might not make it back, so it's cool just to have this experience, you know.' It catches you off-guard, man, you kinda feel a little bit sentimental about it, you know. But it was pretty cool that we did that."
The band heads to Europe next month to play at some festivals and hopes to be back on the road in North America in August and September, possibly as support to a "pretty cool band," according to Dave Buckner.
